M.I.A is the stage name of Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam, she was born in 17 july 1975. She is an English recording artist, songwriter, painter and director of Tamil descent. she was born in hounslow but later she moved to Sri Lanka. "M.I.A" is both on her own name and a reference for the abstract "Missing in Action". she began her career in 2000 as visual artist, filmmaker and designer in west London before beginning her recording career in 2002.
She become interest in hip pop music and rap music, her music is inspired by real life event mostly political event as she has bought up in Sir Lanka's civil war. which is also to give a message cross to the public. Born free is one the music video which is based on political violence.
